Coon Lake Anoka, MN

Our lake - 1,400+ acres of water make Coon lake the largest lake in Anoka County. For you folks who like to fish, Coon twice held the Minnesota State Record for the White Crappie weighing in at 3 lbs. 4oz. Coon is also a great northern and bass lake.
If fishing is not for you, then how about water skiing, jet skiing, boating or pleasently pontooning. How about a good old fashioned picnic at the beach. With over 230' of sandy beach there is plenty of room to picnic or play water volly ball or just relax and read a good book

Coon Lake Improvement District

The five initial Board of Directors for the Coon Lake Improvement District (CLID) were appointed and approved by the Anoka County Board of Commissioners at a meeting on February 12, 2008. These Directors will serve as CLID Directors until an election is held at the first Coon Lake Improvement District Annual Meeting pursuant to Anoka County Board Resolution #2008-10. Appointed members include Coon Lake residents Mike Bury, Ron Croteau, Tim Donnay, Mike Gaynor and Dave Koenig.

The Coon Lake Improvement Association (CLIA) and the the CLID are two separate entities with common goals including but not limited to:

· Preserving and improving water quality by means of water and related land management, excluding land use zoning authority; and in-lake water treatment

· Sedimentation and siltation control, and shoreline erosion control

· Preserving and improving fish and wildlife habitat

· Preservation of the public rights in the public waters of the state and to provide the public use of the lake consistent with the preservation of environmental values

· Preserving and improving recreational potential of the lake

· Monitoring the dam and maintaining water levels for the lake at historical levels – possible future upkeep of the dam

· Lake protection and rehabilitation

· Continuation of fish stocking efforts in support of the CLIA efforts currently underway

· Protection and enhancement of environmental values by preventing degradation of fish and wildlife habitat, surface and ground water quality, natural beauty and unique scientific values, recreational values, and the quality of life generally

· Ensuring local involvement in District projects and a commitment to future lake management

· Conformity with federal, state, regional, and local laws, rules, and water and related land management policies
