MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES

NOVEMBER 10,2003

ANNOUNCEMENTS.....Kathy informed us that the new carpet is in and is asking for help to remove old carpet and furniture. Carpet will be delivered and installed.

Madam president Kathy Paavola called the meeting to order. Roll was taken. Absent was Verna Findorff.

SECRETARY'S REPORT....read laura

Motion to accept the minutes as read made by Diana and seconded by Joe Morgan.

Passed.

TREASURER'S REPORT.........Marlene Colleen

Copies of the report were available. Checking $1960.85, missions savings $27,454.11, mission checking $4691.30, Cans for kids $55.00. The bank loan balance is$21,S27.5S. The bill for the audit from 10 years ago has been paid in full and have asked for written confirmation. Totals from the Pig Roast were total income $1,900.97, expenses $1472.16, profit $428.81. Marge made a motion to accept the report and Penny seconded, subject to audit.  Motion passed.

GAMBLING REPORT........Marge reported for month of October, gross receipts were

$52,546.00, net receipts $12,225.00, cash lon^short $7.00, net profit $6,628.94 and 45/55 $1,617.72. This was a very good month. Allowable expenses were rent $1,000, Ben's Wholesale $1,500 to $2,000, payroll $2,000 to $3,000, phone/fax $23.45, Mn Dept of Revenue $116.30, misc $20.65. Joe Morgan made a motion to accept the allowable expenses subject to audit and Diana Saenger seconded. Motion passed.

Joe Morgan inquired if a party or something was done for the employees who work the gambling for the center. Kathy suggested we give them a gift or something and that the money could come from the general fund. Marge Barrett said that the first Friday night for meat raffle was slow but ended well. Old world meats will deliver and we are committed for one month. At the end of the month, there will be a poll and then a decision will be made on which distributor to go with. Joe also suggested a meat raffle the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving. Marge said tickets would not be .available this year but could consider for next year. We can't do turkeys because the market only has fresh turkeys. Marge said that Kathy, Marge, Judy and Tracey will be going to the convention. Convention is paid for by the center.

SENIOR REPORT.......none

YOUTH COMMITTEE.....Diana reported that the Halloween party went fine. She has noticed that there are not as many houses with lights on for treaters. Ran out of candy so may need to reconsider amounts for next year. There is a need for more reliable volunteers. Kathy suggested making a4 list of houses for treaters or more getting the word out on the party. There is a concern ttiat the streets are dark and Jane Morgan will check with the power company on having lights working. The photos were a very good idea and the children really enjoyed that. Tara   informed us that Trudy will not be able to help with Winter Teen Dance but Michelle will be able to help. Michelle spoke with a company about a DJ. She spoke with one person who can do it for $320.00 and 2x for $169.00, Diana stated that the ballpark still needs work and Kathy said this will be taken care of in the spring. Tara spoke with Brad and the money was not available this year but should be done spring 04. Diana said we could have other leagues with the Linwood area school district. Kathy suggested that someone go to the park meeting. Bert informed us that there is a new warming house at Booster Park. Diana would like to see an ice rink by ballfield. Kathy said would probably not be possible as a well would be needed. Diana suggested that it is written in the newsletter that ideas/suggestions are needed.

DOCK COMMITTEE....Mike is working on docks. Problem with people not removing docks. Laura will contact DNR, Tom Hovey, about rules or regulations. If docks are not removed, members will get a letter in the spring., also the dock areas are not being kept clean. Attachment from DNR could be sent with dock renewal Jetter.

RENTALS.....Kathy said rentals are going good, with one weekend left in June 04.

CAR PET...... Kathy would like carpet installed asap. Joe asked if a dumpster was

going to be available for the tear out. Kathy will call to see if a rollout is possible. Kathy's deadline for carpet would be Thanksgiving.   Kathy offered to make lunch if people could do removal on Sunday, then carpet could be delivered on monday.

HOLIDAY BASKETS... Kathy has spoken with Cub frozen foods and they don't do anything less than 8 servings. She spoke with Newmarket and they can do anything we want. They have a small turkey breast and can do with anything as long as we give then a price, they will assemble baskets. The baskets will probably be about $50.00. Kathy has a list of about 24 names, with about 17 possible, She would like people to go over list. Senior dinner was discussed but may be a conflict with Lion's dinner. Kathy suggested doing 2 holiday baskets, with one basket around end of month and one between Christmas and New Year. Gift Certificates could be placed in the baskets. Kathy needs list of goodies for delivery in November. The other basket could be delivered around December 20th. These baskets are for 65 or older or disabled persons. George made a motion to allow $50. per household basket for november and a second was made by Joe, motion passed. Jane made a motion to allow $50. per the december basket and Tara seconded, motion passed.

CRIME WATCH MEETING.....Information was very good, lots of people attended. Jane will check with Laura Schmidt on Neighborhood Watch. National Night Out is in August on a Tuesday. Usually there are block parties but we could have at the center. People need to be reminded to call police if they smell or suspect something unusual.

NEW BUSINESS............

KID'S HOLIDAY PARTY...Mrs. Claus and Dick Lang, with enough notice, would come and be Santa Claus. Diana suggested a snowman contest, depending on amount of snow and could be done earlier on Saturday. Tara would like to offer pictures taken again of the children. Tara also suggested decorating cookies and the children making picture frames. Diana suggested gift certificates for prizes for the snowman contest. Ages for children would be up to age twelve. Bert made a motion to approve up to $500.00 for the party, Marge seconded, motion passed.

SENIOR DINNER....Marlene announced she is retiring from work on 12/31/03. She would be willing to work with Seniors and try to plan something once a month.

Operation ID.. Joe Morgan suggested the idea of Operation ID which is a video of the child and then given to the parent. Donations could be asked for from community groups, etc.

Kathy announced that the Eagle Scouts are building a sign for the city of East Bethel. The Scouts may be asking for donations. Also, there is the Fire Dept/Fire Station and maintenance bldg. which we should make a donation in support of the city of East Bethel. Marge asked about improving the Welcome to Coon Lake Beach sign and wondered if the Scouts would be able to do something for that sign. That green sign is probably a county sign. There are new employees at the city hall. Laura asked about a new sign at the T. Marge said the Mike Murphy was working on that and thinks he has plans to build a new sign out of wood given to him from his father and will be done as a family project.   Kathy said the breakfast will start February 1st. Tara asked about a fishing contest. Kathy had no information regarding this event Marge said it would be discussed with the bar owner. Joe asked about the cash machine. Marge said she thought he was keeping Jt full at the bar. Joe remarked it has been empty at times.
