Consider volunteering for one of the upcoming events. Volunteering is a stress reliever and promotes good family values. Volunteering at local events also allows you to meet our other great lake area residents on Coon Lake.

UPCOMING EVENTS IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS

GOLF OUTING/TOURNAMENT

The 1st Annual "Friends of Coon Lake" Golf Tournament has been proposed to be held in August 2008 at Viking Meadows Golf Course in East Bethel.


Chairperson Dee Rhoda along with Co-Chair Bobbi Eischeid have submitted a proposal for CLIA to host this fun-filled day for golfers and non-golfers alike. Dee and Bobbi have set up sub-committees and are requesting volunteers to assist in making this fundraising event a success.

Once the date has been confirmed, we will be communicating more details to the association members. Start to generate interest with your family and friends to attend this event as golfers, non-golfers (there will be other events such as putting contest and dinner), or volunteers. Your involvement is KEY to the success of this event.

PANCAKE BREAKFASTS

The CLIA Board and Committee Members have committed to the Coon Lake Beach Community and Senior Center that we will host a minimum of three pancake breakfasts in 2008. The dates are the first Sunday in March, June and November. Each breakfast requires approximately six adults to work in the kitchen performing duties such as pancake chef, French toast chef, egg chef, toast chef, sanitation professional (dish washer), and order management. If you want your children to participate, three to four children serve and bus tables in the dining area. Where else can you get that kind of experience to add to your resume!

Committment includes one Sunday from approximately 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM. You get an opportunity to serve for a good cause and also you get to eat for free that morning. You may not realize it, but the Coon Lake and Community Center Board offers the use of their facility to CLIA for CLIA sponsored events at NO CHARGE! The Coon Lake Community and Senior Center Board also makes it possible for CLIA to host the Saturday meat raffles at Purple Reign.

SPEAKING OF MEAT RAFFLES

CLIA is looking to add a fourth meat raffle team to host the meat raffles at Purple Reign. A meat raffle team requires a "Team Leader" to coordinate the volunteers for their assigned Saturday. Meat raffles start at 4:00 PM every Saturday and usually last about 90 minutes. This is a great way to have a "team" of your lake neighbors get together every fourth Saturday and meet other Coon Lake area residents. This is one of CLIA's largest fundraisers and is an important part of our success. Please be an integral part of CLIA's success by volunteering today. Contact me via email at soslake@msn.com.
