Part of the joy of being up on "The Beach" it having a dock. Many members are improving their dock shore areas, fill and leveling. If you want to improve the shoreline itself here is a DRN link for permits.
March2005,
To Member/Perspective Member,
You will return the orange dock space sheet, along with the single sided membership
form. The other two sided sheet is for your record. You are to fill out and
sign in foil the two sheets and return them to me. I will not be excepting
any forms that are not filled out hi foil. Please have all the information
that we ask for.
I, along with the board members and active members have discussed at great length how to get more involvement from other members, but we could discuss all day, it would not do any good unless others come forward to help. We had a chili feed in late January, I could count the attendance from the neighborhood on my fingers and toes. Now, that is real support! We have our annual Pig Roast where help is abundant, attendance is great, but the donations at the beer wagon fells real short of even paying for that item. Our pancake breakfasts are doing alright, but there again, we get a lot more participants from out of our communfty. We sure could use the community support.
We, also have discussed rising costs of maintaining the center, which is continually in need of work, none of this comes free. We are also finding that our main fundraiser, pulltabs at Hook's Roadhouse is not bringing in as much revenue as we would like,so activities are needing extra close attention. We now have to watch very carefully how we spend our monies. We now have taken action for more revenue to be raised to help with yearly expenses, hoping this will help, along with getting more involvement from the membership. Prices have been raised, we will keep a better record of volunteers during the year, all we ask is five (5) hours of help, that to me is not very unreasonable.
The lakeshore issue has really been a lot of work this year, people really
are not understanding this at alL I will try to help people understand how
this works. The lakeshore for almost a mile belongs to the Coon Lake Community/Senior
Center, we manage ft. Now, in order for someone to use 20 feet of lakeshore,
they need to be a member of the Coon Lake Community/Senior Center, this is
where the membership comes in. You are not paying for 20 feet of lakeshore,
you are becoming a member of the community center, which gives you the right
to use that 20 feet. This does not go with your property when ft is sold,
either. Whoever buys your property has to become a member of the Community
Center to have the right to use that 20 feet. These are rules and regulations
that need to be followed using this 20 feet, they are enclosed in the letter.
In some cases, we at the center may need to get the DNR involved with touchy
issues. The Coon Lake Cornmunfty/Senior Center, as managers of the lakeshore
can and will take away anyone's right to use that 20 feet if they abuse it.
We are looking out for a very precious resource.
Thank you, Your President,
Kathy Paalova
